STOP HATING YOUR BODY
(Trigger warning: this video involves body image issues, there is implied vomiting) With our time together, Elle (beingbelle) and I (Annie @annieelainey) created this video. The characters represented in this video are two high school girls dealing with body insecurities for different reasons. They are of different social statuses in school and different influences that lead to their low self-esteem. We start the video with Christina, who has dreams of becoming an actress in theater but feels her looks will hold her back. She collects magazine clippings reminding herself of what she “SHOULD” look like and is influenced by the media and bullies into thinking that she isn’t pretty enough to succeed as an actor. Then we have Claire, who is a bit more popular but secretly deals with a lot of darkness. Her parents pressure her to be thin, implying that it’s the only way for her to be attractive; her father even goes as far as to purchase diet pills for her. She behaves impulsively when overcome with her emotions; the last time she was upset she chopped her hair off. We see these girls hit their lowest point to then find it within themselves to start the climb back up, to start the journey to self-acceptance and self-love, to stop hating their bodies.
