Contemplating getting my childhood imaginary friends tattooed above my current “Keep Moving Forward” tattoo (have more empty space available than I planned) and they all march forward on my rib cage. They were Raha, the lion, Inaya the black panther, and Jahi the wolf. I was inspired to give them names in Swahili, I believe from The Jungle Book.

Raha means entertainment, Inaya means guidance, and Jahi means dignity, or at least, that’s what I thought. Now that I’m older, I should probably look that up, because I have no memory of how I figured that out, haha!

Which design do you prefer, top or bottom?

I can’t wait to get the others!

Here she is, guys! Fresh from the night before!

Around here, we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we’re curious… and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.

-Walt Disney

Disney has always been there for me with positive messages no matter how deluded they may appear to others. Disney World always feels like home, it’s a big part of my life, a source of joy.  It shined a light when all I could see was darkness, and I am forever grateful. Disney, along with Harry Potter, helped to save my life when my childhood was it’s darkest.

This quote; being Disney related, then also reminds me of my dad who recently passed, who loved Disney World SO much, that he didn’t care if we came back without a penny to his name, we would go every year. That was how he lived his life, he didn’t really care about money at all, he’d “rather have empty pockets, and a heart full of memories”. I paint a pretty picture saying this… but I must mention… My father had anger issues and was abusive in my childhood, but by the end of his life we’d reconciled and become friends. I carry the memory of him with warmth in my heart, having forgiven him.

No matter how dark it gets, no matter the mistakes we make, or doubts we have, we have to keep putting one foot in front of the other and keep moving forward.

A tiny white ink “lumos” on my back. Yay or nay. I say yay. (that’s actually the area above my knee, haha)

To remind me: “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remember to turn on the light.”

Extreme rough draft of my Harry Potter tattoo. Lumos, of course. To remind me that happiness can be found in the darkest of time, if I remember to turn on the light.

So fierce. I love it! Similar location for my birthday tattoo, similar size as well.

Meet the Robinsons is on. Inspired my first tattoo and makes me cry every time.

“Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remember to turn on the light.”

Okay, Harry Potter tattoo

If a text (MIGHT be a white one, on my caramel skin tone, haha) either:

  • Lumos - “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remember to turn on the light.”
  • I solemnly swear I am up to no good
  • The gryffindor emblem
